NPT will produce a staged reading of LIFTED by Dipika Guha on Monday April 27, 2014. Reception at 6:00pm, and the reading will begin promptly at 6:30pm at New 42nd Studios, 229 West 42nd Street. Dipika received her MFA from Yale School of Drama, the Adele Kellenberg Fellowship from Brown University and the Frank Knox Fellowship from Harvard University. We are very proud of our association with her and believe she has a tremendous future.
Dipika Guha was born in Calcutta and raised in tea drinking countries all over the world. Her plays include I ENTER the VALLEY (Weissberger nom ’14), THE BETROTHED (Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, Chester Theatre), THE RULES (Superlab Clubbed Thumb/Playwrights Horizons) and BLOWN YOUTH (New Georges/Barnard commission). Her work has been developed by Old Vic New Voices in London, the Lark, Fault Line Theatre, Naked Angels, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, WordBRIDGE, Cutting Ball Theatre, the Playwrights Foundation (SF), the Flea, INTAR, One Coast Collaboration and the Tobacco Factory (UK) amongst others. Residencies include SPACE at Ryder Farm, Hedgebrook, Ucross Foundation, Djerassi Resident Artists Program and the Rasmuson Foundation Artists Residency. She’s the inaugural recipient of the Shakespeare’s Sister Fellowship, a former Dramatists Guild Fellow, a Time Warner Fellow at the Women’s Project Lab, Ars Nova Playgroup alum & alum of Young Writers Program at the Royal Court Theatre, London.
